Tx STEM Ed is proud to announce the return of the 2026 Tech Wars Rocketry Competition, taking place on May 18, 2026, at Nikki Rowe High School in McAllen, Texas. Now in its fifth consecutive year partnering with McAllen ISD, this exciting event gives students a rare, hands-on opportunity to design, build, and safely launch chemical rockets — bringing science, engineering, and teamwork to life in a way no classroom can replicate.

This signature event is a testament to what’s possible when schools, community organizations, and STEM advocates come together around a shared mission: inspiring the next generation of innovators. We are deeply grateful for McAllen ISD’s continued and unwavering support over the years, and we extend a heartfelt thank you to the Rio Grande Valley Rocket Club for their invaluable expertise and on-the-ground support that helps make safe, successful launches possible year after year.

Students will experience the full engineering design cycle — from concept and construction to launch and data analysis — guided by mentors passionate about expanding STEM access in the Rio Grande Valley and across Texas.
