Texas STEM Ed, Inc. dba TxSTEMed (“Tx STEM Ed”) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit providing STEM education programs for Texas K-16 students and educators. We are deeply committed to protecting your privacy.
We Never Sell or Share Your Personal Information
Tx STEM Ed does not sell, rent, lease, or share your personal information with any third party for marketing, fundraising, or any other purpose. Your data is used only by authorized Tx STEM Ed staff and volunteers for official program operations, and by the service providers named below that work on our behalf.
Text Messaging (SMS)
If you sign up for TxSTEMed Text Alerts, we collect your mobile number, your name if you give it, the groups you chose, the date and time you consented, the consent wording you agreed to, your IP address, and your opt-out status. We use this only to send the messages you asked for, to honor STOP and HELP requests, and to keep a record of your consent.
No mobile information will be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. Text messaging opt-in data and consent will not be shared with any third parties, other than the service providers that deliver our messages for us. Those providers may use it only to deliver our messages.

Our text program is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect mobile numbers from them. If we learn that a number belongs to a child under 13, we delete it. Parents and guardians can email [email protected] to ask us to remove a number.
Information We Collect
- Name, email, phone number, and mailing address of participants (age 13+), volunteers, mentors, teachers, and parents/guardians
- School or organization affiliation
- Allergies or requested accommodations (only if voluntarily provided for safety during in-person events)
- Program participation records, project work, and assessment data
- Proprietary curriculum materials and program outcomes
- Website usage data (IP address, browser type, pages visited)
We do NOT knowingly collect or store any personal information from children under 13 years of age.
We do NOT collect or store any medical information beyond allergies or accommodation requests.
Mobile information WILL NOT be shared with third parties/affiliates for marketing/promotional purposes.
How We Use Your Information
Only for delivering and improving our STEM education programs:
- Sending TxSTEMed Text Alerts to people who signed up for them
- Sending volunteer and program reminders by email
- Managing attendance and participation
- Protecting health and safety at events
- Internal program evaluation and curriculum development
- Required grant reporting (always anonymized or aggregated)

- Our website, txstemed.org (text alert sign-ups and consent records)
- Twilio (text message delivery)
- Password-protected Tx STEM Ed devices
All service providers are contractually prohibited from using your data for anything except providing services to Tx STEM Ed.
